Herts Nomads had watched Chiltern dismiss Team Southampton almost as easily as they had and knew this match would be much more of a challenge.
However, the Nomads stepped their game up a gear and Chiltern had a real fight on their hands.
The experienced Chiltern team fought hard and covered the court extremely well. The Herts team were relentless in their onslaught and kept the pressure on all through the first set to win 25 -23.
Chiltern seemed somewhat deflated in the second set, as Herts sorted out the timing on their block and simply refused to let the ball hit the floor. Chiltern continued to defend well, but with Herts defending so well they found it hard to score points. The Nomads kept up a strong attack and took the set comfortably 25 -14.
The third set saw a more determined Chiltern side, but the Nomads served themselves into an early lead, which left Chiltern playing catch up for the whole set. The Herts team stayed strong and determined, focussing on the task at hand and took the set 25 - 18.
