Herts were looking forward to the challenge of facing their old rivals
Brentwood. The Nomads started well but weren't quite into their game in the
first set and Brentwood took advantage of some weak spots in the Herts defence to take
the lead. The Nomads battled hard but couldn't quite make up the deficit and
lost the set 21 - 25.
The second set saw the Herts team turn the pressure up and with all guns
blazing took apart the opposition. Brentwood were a little stunned by the
onslaught and Herts took the set 25 - 17.
The Herts team stayed totally dominant in the 3rd and Brentwood crumbled under
the pressure. The Herts team were totally in control and seemed to
have the match won when they took the set easily 25 - 13.
The unthinkable happened in the 4th set as Herts totally lost concentration
and allowed Brentwood back into the game. Brentwood took full advantage of
this lapse in the Herts performance and re- grouped quickly to take control of
the game. This time it was the Nomads who were left a little stunned as they
lost the set 13 -25.
Herts were determined to recover in the 5th but tough serving from
Brentwood stopped them in their tracks and they went 5 -0 down at the start
of the set. The Herts team recovered and battled bravely as the rest of the set
was point for point with both teams determined to win. The glitch at the start
of the set proved fatal as the Nomads couldn't recover those 5 points and lost
10 -15. The team was truly gutted having had such good control of the match
for two sets. However, we look forward to another good battle for our next
meeting.
