Herts Nomads were well prepared for their first home fixture of the year. In the first set Sussex Dolphins were slow to get going and the Nomads stormed away with the set 25 – 10.
The Sussex team got it together for the 2 nd set and came back strongly at the Nomads. The Herts team seemed to have switched off completely and struggled to get their game together. The Dolphin's block thwarted the Herts attack and the team's confidence nose-dived. Sussex stayed composed, even as the Herts team rallied and the Nomads lost the set 19 –25.
The Herts team continued to battle their gremlins in the 3 rd set, the team just couldn't get it together. Meanwhile the Sussex team was gaining confidence from the Nomads lacklustre performance. The Herts team battled but lost the set 21 – 25.
Herts Nomads finally sorted themselves out for the 4 th set, switched back on and played as they can and should. Sussex was suddenly facing a very different prospect and could do little to stop the Nomads domination of the game. The Nomads took the set 25 – 9.
A determined Herts team kept their focus for the 5 th set and took an early lead. A couple of wobbles from the Herts team let the Dolphins come back a bit, but the Nomads stayed in control to take the set 15 –10.
