This home fixture was a challenge for the Herts team before it began, due to the absence of their regular setter. However, the team pulled together and met the challenge head on.
Herts faced a very determined Solent team in the first match. The first set was close, with Solent one point ahead in the league and Herts having one game in hand, it was an important game for both teams. The Nomads kept their cool as they settled in to their unfamiliar line up and strong serving kept Solent under pressure. It was point for point much of the set, but as Herts settled down their confidence grew and they hung on to take the set 25 – 23.
A confident Nomads team started the 2 nd set, strong serving put them 5 – 0 up, which helped the team relax into their game and really take control. Solent had no reply as Herts had it all their own way to take the set 25 – 14.
The 3 rd set saw Herts lose focus a bit and Solent took full advantage serving tough to establish a significant lead. The Herts team rallied a little, but not enough to stop Solent taking the set fairly comfortably 25 -17.
Herts re-grouped, refocused and set out for the 4 th with great determination. Good teamwork set them up for a really solid performance to take the set 25 – 15.
