Nomads Vs Brentwood Ladies 1
24th February 2008

Nomads lost to Brentwood Ladies(1) 3 - 1 (25-27, 25-15, 20-25, 17-25)

Herts faced their old rivals Brentwood, keen to make up for the defeat earlier in the season. The first set was closely fought – both teams defended well. It seemed Herts had an edge when they had a couple of chances to take the set at 24-22, and again at 25-24. However the Nomads let their nerve falter and made errors. Brentwood capitalised on these mistakes and went on to take the set 27-25.

The frustration of losing the first set seemed to spur the Herts team on in the second set. The team pulled together and played good disciplined volleyball and concentrated well to cut out unforced errors. The Nomads were firmly in control, taking the set 25-15.

The third set saw the Herts team wobble a bit but they managed to keep it point for point for the first 8. It could have been fatigue, or just lack of concentration but something crept into the Herts game that resulted in a run of unforced errors. Brentwood were more than happy to capitalise on the Herts mistakes to take the point lead to 13-8. The Nomads battled hard and seemed to close the gap to just 17-15. However, more unforced errors from the Nomads allowed Brentwood to run away with it again and establish another 5 point lead! The Herts team could not claw back this time and Brentwood took the set 25-20.

Brentwood were as energised by the turn of events as Herts were demoralised. The Nomads never got going in the fourth set and Brentwood took it comfortably 25-17.
