The Leagues
In 2024/25 season we are introduced a Mixed League and 3rd Division to Men's league. For this season 2025/26 we are expecting to continue running those two leagues, it will depend on the number of clubs and teams registered.
As with everything the HVA do, this is all about getting more people playing competitive volleyball more often.
So we will have the following Leagues and Divisions:
League | Divisions |
Mixed | X1 |
Women's | W1 |
Men's | M1, M2 and M3 |
The Mixed Division (X1) is aimed at good players and should consist of the better players from clubs. It is not aimed at beginners. As per the current HVA rules:
- You must have at least 2 female or junior players recorded as on court at all times.
- There are "Player Restrictions" in place for this season 25/26. Please refer to the HVA rules section C Clubs, Teams and Players.
The new Men's 3rd Division (M3) will allow us to:
- Better cater for the three levels we've seen for many seasons across the two Divisions of the Men's League.
- Encourage some junior, beginner and/or development teams to join HVA, perhaps from new clubs.
- As with other Men's Divisions, males, females and juniors can play, so perfect for a mixed group not yet at the expected level of the new Mixed Division.
- The usual "Player Restrictions" apply, so players should be registered to their M3 team.
For both X1 and M3, we recommend you play at the full men's net height for safety reasons, but the teams can agree something different before the match begins. Just record it on the scoresheet please.
Note: This is all subject to how many clubs sign up for the new Divisions and we have set a minimum of four teams. We can handle double division fixtures, so a team in a division of 4 teams may play 12 matches per season; two home plus two away matches against each of the other 3 teams.
The Knock Out Cups
We have a Men's and Women's KO Cup with their own restrictions on who can play. Nice and simple.
